Our Aims
The aims of the Junior Hockey Program are to:
- introduce children to the game of hockey
- provide a safe and fun environment for children of all abilities
to play hockey in
- develop children's skills as hockey players and umpires
- foster attitudes of fair play and co-operation
- offer structured progression from schools into junior club hockey
and beyond
The sessions are
run by coaches qualified under the English Hockey Association's coaching
scheme. Senior members of the Hockey Club and parents also help
out from week to week. It's important that the children get individual
as well as group attention, therefore we try to maintain a ratio of
no more than 12 children to 1 adult.

Who can join in?
The sessions are open to all boys and girls from the ages of 7 to 18.
All level of experience are catered for. The children are split into
groups reflecting their size, age and ability.
How much does it cost?
Junior membership of Spencer Hockey Club is £69 for the 2007/2008 season,
which covers all the Sunday training sessions, and includes a pair of
Spencer socks in the first year. Application forms can be obtained from
the coaches, or by e-mailing hockey@spencerclub.org.
For non-members the cost is £5 per session which is collected at the
time. Most of our coaches work for free, so the fees collected cover
equipment, pitch hire and insurance.

What equipment do you need?

You may find it hard to buy hockey equipment from high street
sports shops.
